I work in IT. I care about our rights. I also play a lot of games.
I’m Awaken — a cybersecurity professional, privacy advocate, digital rights activist, and gamer based in Louisiana. I write about the ways technology intersects with power, civil liberties, and the right to own what you own. I also write about games, because not everything has to be a manifesto.
What This Site Is
This isn’t a portfolio. It’s where I put things that matter to me: writing about surveillance and privacy, guides on protecting yourself online, commentary on legislation that affects everyone whether they know it or not, and honest takes on games and the industry that makes them.
If you work in tech and don’t think about any of this, you probably should.
Privacy
Mass data collection, surveillance infrastructure, and why the default should be privacy and not extraction.
Right to Repair
You bought it. You should be able to fix it. Full stop.
FOSS & Digital Rights
Free and open source software isn’t just a development philosophy. It’s a political stance.
Gaming
Reviews, industry criticism, and what I’m playing. Also why Valve is the most consistently consumer-friendly company in this space and that matters.
Find Me
I’m reachable via Matrix and IRC. Email works too. I don’t do social media in the traditional sense.
